PANEL DISCUSSION AT PİRAMİD SANAT ON SATURDAY 14th OF SEPTEMBER 2013
(held in English)
The whole world has heard and seen what happened during the Gezi Protests. But not everybody knows the deep insights to that story, the political and social reasons that have triggered this mass resistance.
Was it really “Just about few trees and a park?”
What was behind the political accumulation of tension and what was the drop that overflowed the bucket?
Where do secularism, democracy freedom of speech and liberties stand in Turkey?
How did the Turkish art scene react to #occupygezi?
How much censorship reigns in the flow of information in the Turkish media?
What does the future store for Turkey?
Piramid Sanat, one of the very rare independent art centers in Turkey, is holding a panel discussion about Gezi with the participation of:
Bedri Baykam (Moderator), Artist - Writer and President of UPSD (Turkish Professional Artists Association) and Executive Board Member of AIAP/UNESCO (World Art Association)
Pınar Kür, Writer
Denizhan Özer, Artist and Curator.
Nasuh Mahruki, President of AKUT (Search and Rescue Association), Writer and Alpinist.
Also Denizhan Özer’s and Piramid Sanat’s Photo Archives about #occupygezi will be seen.
This will be one of the very rare occasion where our foreign visitors will be able to follow this subject closely, without any censorship.
